tft’s engineers have extensive experience in product design, development, prototyping and testing and these skills can be applied to assisting you in developing your concept. We are available to consult on a wide variety of applications and can undertake the mechanical design, industrialisation, prototype manufacture, preparation for high-volume manufacture and turnkey low-volume manufacture using our in-house toolroom. We are experienced in the machining of a wide range of metals, plastics and composite materials as well as resin casting and plastic welding. A couple of example projects are outlined below:
Impact Tester Adapter
This custom adapter was designed to hold a customer product at three specific orientations for impact testing by the SABS certification authority. A rigid but compact and light-weight assembly was designed and machined from Aluminium for the purpose.
Crate Timer
This is a full turnkey development of an electronic timer device, including PCB design, enclosure design and customisation and firmware development. All done in-house by TFT.
Genset Capacity Monitor and Change-over Switch
This is a full turnkey development of an electronic switch and monitoring device, including PCB design, enclosure design and customisation and firmware development as well as some custom mechanical housing and bus bar development. All done in-house by TFT. It is change-over switch for a generator set installation which includes real-time monitoring and display of the percentage of the generator’s capacity that is being used. This is to allow users to avoid over-loading their Genset particularly in domestic installations where the Gensets are typically fairly small and the loads highly variable.
