Our most mature and best-selling product is the compact “Mechanical Bed-of-Nails” test fixture. This is built on a sturdy aluminium enclosure with a footprint of 350 x 300mm making it especially suitable for benchtop use. The fixture uses TFT’s sophisticated lifting mechanism to precisely raise a platen containing the spring-loaded test probes from below the UUT. TFT-specific tapered tooling pins precisely position the UUT and together with linear guide pins and bushes, ensure highly accurate, repeatable and reliable contacting of test points down to a 50mil (1.27mm) pitch and probe counts up to 300. Experienced engineers carefully customise the design of each and every fixture specifically for the board that is being tested and parts are CNC machined specific to the board to perfectly support it from both sides thus ensuring that it does not experience any mechanical stresses during testing.
This type of fixture is available in Mechanical, Pneumatic or Electric Actuation options. Interfacing is usually done through panel-mount connectors on the rear face of the enclosure which can be used to bring power into the fixture and data lines in and out, generally connected to a PC and monitor sitting on the workbench.
